During the January transfer window of the 22/23 season, Arnaut Danjuma was set to join Everton before the deal was hijacked by Tottenham Hotspur. However, according to Fabrizio Romano, history is not quite set to repeat itself. The Italian Journalist has given the “here we go” for the Dutchman to join the Merseyside club on loan until June of 2024.

Despite escaping the drop last year by defeating Bournemouth in a dramatic final-day fixture, the Toffees placed 19th in goals, scoring fewer than all three clubs that were relegated. If all goes according to plan, Sean Dyche will be adding a weapon that has played plenty of Premier League football and should provide a serious increase in quality that’s desperately needed up-front.
Reaching the Champions League semi-final with Villareal CF in the 2021/22 season, Danjuma was a key figure for the Yellow Submarine, scoring against the likes of Juventus and Bayern Munich in the round of 16 and quarterfinal stages. Additionally, the 26-year-old can play either as a winger or centre-forward, which will allow more versatility when it comes to offensive schemes that Dyche can put on the pitch.
The Controversy Surrounding Danjuma’s Return
After completing medicals as well as an interview for the media on Merseyside, the Nigerian-born footballer added salt to the wound by noting that opting for a move to Spurs over Everton was a “no-brainer”. Further stating that the North London club has “brilliant” coaches, staff, and facilities, he indirectly ‘threw shade’ at the 17th-place finishers.
Although his arrival will undoubtedly be a great improvement to a squad that has been amongst the bottom three in recent years, it’s far from guaranteed that fans will react positively when he runs onto the field for the first time.

A Potential Spark for Improvement
Finishing 16th and 17th over the last two seasons, it seems that the Goodison Park occupants are starting to appear as a bottom-half club in the top flight. Although it is unlikely that one loanee will be the change that sends Everton far up the table, bringing in someone who’s proven to score goals against some of the top clubs in Europe is definitely a good start.

The transfer insider has now given his coveted “here we go” on the deal, meaning Everton are now set to complete this acquisition.
Romano reports that Danjuma “has accepted” Everton’s offer, having already spoken to Sean Dyche, and goes on to claim that the necessary medical tests are booked for Saturday.
The move is expected to be a straight loan with no buy option, making it a rather risk-free deal for the Toffees.
