In a stunning turn of events, Frank Lampard was brought back to the club this week to serve as interim manager for the remainder of the season.

Someone who is familiar with being an interim manager is Guus Hiddink, who served as interim manager for Chelsea on two occasions. He discussed his thoughts on this development on Friday.

The Dutchman is a believer in Lampard, stating his desire that he is considered for the full-time position following this season as he is familiar with the club.

'Honestly, I would like him to be considered not just as an interim coach. But also to be given the confidence to continue with the project next season.'

'He knows the club like nobody else and it’s important to give continuity to things. Like anyone, Lampard is going to need time. Chelsea have invested a lot of money but now need to adapt to an idea.'

It is currently not thought that Lampard's name is on the shortlist of permanent managers being considered. That being said if he can salvage this season by way of something significant such as a Champions League victory, he would surely have to be considered this summer to stay in the role permanently, something Hiddink hopes to see.
