Tottenham Hotspur secured the loan signing of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig during the winter transfer window.

Werner made an impactful debut for the Lilywhites in January against Manchester United, providing an assist for Rodrigo Bentancur’s equaliser at Old Trafford.

Since then, the German attacker has shown glimpses of his potential, tallying a goal and two assists in six Premier League appearances.

However, former Tottenham striker Peter Crouch has voiced his frustration with Werner’s inconsistency in front of goal.

Despite acknowledging Werner’s blistering pace and intelligent movement, Crouch highlighted the need for the 28-year-old to convert his chances into goals more consistently.

In a recent episode of his podcast, That Peter Crouch Podcast, Crouch said:

“He has got so much pace and gets in all the time. He has another one on one, where if Kane gets in that position we have seen it so many times, you just know he is finishing it. But with him I just knew.

“For his goal his movement was really good. It’s frustrating because it’s there, but at times he can frustrate. He’s an unbelievable threat and he’s always worth his place in the team.”

Crouch’s sentiments reflect a common frustration among Tottenham supporters, who have witnessed Werner squander several scoring opportunities.

Despite his undeniable threat, Werner’s conversion rate has left much to be desired, prompting calls for improvement.

However, Werner’s impact cannot be overlooked, as evidenced by his recent goal against Crystal Palace, where he showcased his predatory instincts to find the back of the net, a goal that inspired the comeback.
