Thomas Partey has not had the best time in the 2023/24 season as he remains on the sidelines following a lengthy injury. As per Fabrizio Romano, in a recent press conference, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta revealed that the midfielder has faced another setback on his road to recovery from a hamstring issue.

Arsenal Suffer Blow as Thomas Partey Injured Yet Again

Injury Duration up in the Air

In the press conference, Arteta mentioned that Partey’s injury duration is unclear. He said: “Thomas Partey had a little setback a few days ago, unfortunately he’s not available”. “Whether it is a matter of days or weeks, we will see. He felt something again in a very similar area”.

The midfielder has been out of action for almost three months since getting injured in early November. The issue also meant that the Ghanaian international could not play a part in his nation’s quest for a trophy at the African Cup of Nations.

Prior to the hamstring problem, the playmaker was out with a groin issue in September. As a result, the Gunners have not been able to see their best possible midfield combination in action this season.

How Can Arteta Cope With This Issue?

Losing Partey for an extended period of time has been a blow for Arteta and the North Londoners. However, Declan Rice’s performances alongside Martin Odegaard have been a saving grace for the Spaniard.

In addition to this, the former Arsenal captain has also used the likes of Kai Havertz, Leandro Trossard, and a returning Emile Smith Rowe in the third midfield slot over the last few months.

Despite some lingering injury issues in the squad, the Gunners have had a good season in the Premier League. They currently occupy a joint-second place in the table, 5 points behind leaders Liverpool, and on par with rivals Manchester City.

Fans of the club would however be hoping for a swift return for their “world-class” star as they aim to capture their first league title in two long decades.
