The big story this week has yet again been based around Arsenal being interested in signing a Chelsea player.

We have seen David Luiz, Willian, and Jorginho make the same switch in recent times, and now Arsenal are after another Chelsea player.

Exclusive: Chelsea hold recent contract talks with defender and plan more!

As per multiple reports, including a big update from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano this morning, Arsenal are trying to sign Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz this summer.

Chelsea are reportedly trying to get £70-£75m for the German international, but the proposed move has surprised pundit and former Newcastle United player Shaka Hislop.

The now ESPN pundit was speaking about the potential move yesterday, and Hislop believes that Havertz has done nothing in during his time at Chelsea to warrant such a big fee.

“I am (surprised to hear the Havertz news),” said Hislop in words cited by HITC. “I am just not sure where Kai Havertz fits in this Arsenal team.

“He has done nothing in three years at Chelsea to suggest that he’s going to be worth that kind of money and rediscover the form we saw at Leverkusen.

“Then you look at Arsenal’s line-up. I am not sure who he takes the place of. Or is he coming in as a squad player? It just doesn’t make an awful lot of sense to me, at all.

“The only thing that is in Kai Havertz’s favour here is Timo Werner oddly and his struggles at Chelsea, then he goes back to Germany and finds form. If you are a purchasing club and you are willing to spend north of £70 million, that’s a really weird stance to take. Well, Timo Werner rediscovered his form once he left Stamford Bridge, so we think the same of Kai Havertz. Nothing about this makes sense – credit to Arteta, he is seeing something I haven’t.”

The Chelsea News View

To be honest, I don’t disagree with Hislop here. Havertz has had his moments, such as the UCL goal and many others. But overall he has been largely inconsistent and not good enough. Personally I’m not upset if he is sold, and we must sell him to whoever wants to stump up the money to buy him, especially if he actively wants to leave.
