Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann celebrated a missed penalty kick from Inter Milan striker Alexis Sanchez with some ill-advised choice of words.

The Colchoneros hosted the Nerazzurri last night in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16.

The Italian giants thought they had it in the bag when Federico Dimarco broke the deadlock in the first half, thus taking the aggregate score to 2-0.

However, the Spaniards completed a remarkable comeback to take the encounter to extra time. They eventually prevailed on penalty shootouts.

Griezmann was one of the main pillars of Diego Simeone’s side. The Frenchman scored a timely first goal for Atletico to restore their hopes.

He eventually left his place on the pitch to Saul Niguez in the 106th, Yet, he still managed to hit the headlines while on the bench, albeit for all the wrong reasons, explains FcInterNews.

During the shootouts, Sanchez took the second spot-kick for Inter, but was denied by Jan Oblak.

Afterwards, the cameras caught Griezmann celebrating the botched attempt with his teammates while enchantingly shouting: “The Chilean is sh*t.”

This was only the first three missed attempts from the Nerazzurri stars. Just like Sanchez, Davy Klaassen came off the bench but failed to put his shot past Oblak.

Finally, Lautaro Martinez sent his attempt high over the crossbar, which spelled the end of Inter’s European aspirations.

Nevertheless, many will feel that Griezmann’s profane, over-the-top celebrations we uncalled for, especially for a star in his status.

The 32-year-old enjoyed a memorable first spell with Atletico between 2014 and 2019 before joining Barcelona.

But following two underwhelming years at Camp Nou, he returned to Diego Simeone’s court for a second stint.
