Christian Luyindama recently talked about his failed Tottenham Hotspur transfer.

Christian Luyindama could soon end up hanging his boots despite only being 30 years old. The DR Congo centre-back has been without a club since parting ways with Galatasaray towards the end of 2023.

He recently spoke to Africa Foot Online about his failed Premier League move. Luyindama made the move from Belgian club Standard Liège to Galatasaray at the start of 2019. He had an impressive start to life at the Turkish club. He made quite a name for himself on the back of his impressive performances and it resulted in a lot of interest in his services.

Clubs from across Europe wanted to sign him, Tottenham Hotspur were one of the many clubs that were pushing for his signature but a knee injury meant he couldn’t fulfil his dreams.

Luyindama said via FotoSport: “I could not realize my dreams. At that time I had many offers, including from Tottenham and Aston Villa. I had to play that national match (in November 2019) against Gambia and then go back to Istanbul to finalize the details of his transfer. Unfortunately, I injured my knee. My transfer did not happen. I couldn’t realize my dreams.”

The North London club were interested in the DR Congo defender and they were ready to bring him to the Premier League. He was within touching distance of his dreams. But, unfortunately, things didn’t go according to plan.

The 30-year-old was expected to return from the international break (towards the end of 2019) and head to Istanbul to finalize the details of his transfer to the Premier League. But, he ended up picking a knee injury which resulted in the move collapsing. His dream transfer didn’t go through and he couldn’t fulfil one of his biggest dreams.
