Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele is unlikely to have a future at the club next season, according to Dean Jones.

The 27-year-old midfielder is currently on loan at Turkish club Galatasaray and he has not been a key player for them. He has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot and they are unlikely to sign him permanently.

The player will return to his parent club upon the expiry of his loan deal but Jones believes that his time is up at Tottenham and the North London club will look to move on from him.

The Frenchman was regarded as a world-class player when he joined the club, but the move has not worked out for either party. It would be ideal for them to go their separate ways. Ndombele needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and Spurs will not be able to provide him with that platform.

Jones said to Give Me Sport: “Under the new standard at Tottenham, I don’t see them returning to Ndombele. I think it’s time to try to move on from him. It’s proved difficult for them to offload him fully. Even when you get rid of him, his new club isn’t satisfied with what they’ve picked up. So, I don’t know what happens to him next, but I certainly don’t see him playing at Tottenham again.”

It is highly unlikely that any club will pay a premium for him given his performances in the last couple of seasons. It is pretty fair to assume that Tottenham will have to sell him at a massive loss and it remains to be seen where he ends up.

Spurs need to bring in central midfield reinforcements in the summer and they should invest the proceeds from his departure into a new player.
