Donyell Malen has emerged as a sought-after target with Liverpool, Manchester United, and Arsenal eyeing a move for the Borussia Dortmund star. As reported by Christian Falk for BILD, Dortmund, eyeing a reunion with former player Jadon Sancho, are contemplating leveraging Malen’s talent in a potential deal with United.

Liverpool and Manchester United Battle for Donyell Malen

What Does Donyell Malan Have To Offer?

The 25-year-old has scored 11 Bundesliga goals this season until now and has a market value of £29.75 million, according to Transfermarkt. He has been linked with a move away from Dortmund who paid £25.5 million to sign him from PSV Eindhoven in 2021. Falk wrote on X: “Liverpool is interested in Donyell Malen. Also Man Utd is still interested, a swap deal with Jadon Sancho is an option. Arsenal are [also] watching the offensive player.”

Edin Terzić’s side are open to negotiations with the Red Devils in order to secure Sancho’s return who is currently on loan at the club. However, the England international’s future still remains up in the air following his falling out with Eric ten Hag. United are seeking attacking reinforcements, especially with doubts lingering over Antony’s future at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Liverpool reportedly consider the former Arsenal youth player as a replacement for Mohamed Salah, should he leave the club this summer. Jurgen Klopp was reportedly the driving force behind wanting to sign Malan, having held conversations with the versatile youngster during his stint at PSV Eindhoven.

Will Arsenal Swoop In For Their Former Player?

The Dutch international spent two years with the Gunners as a youth player between 2015 and 2017, and recently admitted he would be keen on returning to the club. Speaking to Voetbalzone, Malen said: “I think, because I played in England as a youth, it is a dream to play in the Premier League. I think that is a beautiful dream.

“Yes I would [return]. I wanted Arsenal [as a teenager], my favourite club. I played there in my youth, I really wanted to break through there. I also saw my teammates playing professional football while I was still playing youth football and I knew [leaving] was the right thing to do.”
