Former Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov has praised James Maddison for his recent performances and confidently predicted a Tottenham victory in their upcoming match against Brighton this weekend.

Maddison made a strong comeback from injury against Brentford at the end of January and impressed in Spurs’ recent league game against Everton, where he provided an assist for Richarlison’s goal.

With 10 goal contributions in 13 games, including 3 goals and 7 assists, Maddison’s contributions have been crucial for Tottenham, who currently sit just outside the top four in the Premier League with 44 points.

Previewing the weekend Premier League action for Metro, Berbatov admired Maddison’s performance against Everton and expressed confidence in Tottenham’s ability to secure a victory against Brighton.

He said:

“Tottenham need to continue playing the way they play, entertaining and scoring goals along the way because they would like to be up there with the top four teams and play European football.

“With Maddison finding his feet since coming back from injury, his assist to Richarlison against Everton shows you how much awareness he has on the pitch. I’ll go for Spurs.

“Prediction: 3-1.”

While Tottenham have a favourable home record against Brighton, winning six of their last seven home games against them, they suffered a 4-2 defeat at Falmer Stadium in December.

However, with Tottenham close to having a full-strength team, manager Ange Postecoglou will be hoping for a strong performance from his side this weekend.
