Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Genoa attacker Albert Gudmundsson at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old Icelandic international has been in fine form for the Italian club this season, scoring 12 goals in all competitions. His performances have attracted the attention of the north London outfit and they are looking to make a move for him in the summer.
According to comments from the club’s CEO, Genoa will not sanction his departure for cheap and they will demand a fee of around €40 million. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are prepared to pay the asking price for the 26-year-old attacker.
Genoa CEO Andres Blazquez said via FC Inter News: “I’ll tell you a price so you understand that we don’t want to sell: €40m”.
It is no secret that Tottenham need a quality forward and Gudmundsson could lead the line for them next season. His arrival will allow Son Heung-min to operate in his natural role as the left-sided attacker. It would also add more depth to the squad.
Tottenham are likely to be in the Champions League next season and they will have to deal with fixture congestion. They need more options at their disposal so that they can rotate their players and keep them fresh. Signing a quality goalscorer should be one of their priorities in the summer.
Gudmundsson could fancy Tottenham move
Gudmundsson has proven himself at Genoa and he will look to take the next step in his development and join the Premier League. It will be an exciting opportunity for him and he will be tempted to prove himself at Tottenham.
