Chelsea fought their way to another trip to Wembley in the form of the FA Cup semi-final after defeating Championship leaders Leicester City in rather dramatic fashion. The main reason behind their win was the heroics of star summer signing Cole Palmer and there are is speculation piling up on him being rewarded with a new bumper contract.

Chelsea Keen To Keep Cole Palmer Happy After Amazing Debut Season

Are Chelsea Ready To Give Palmer New Major Contract?

Fabrizio Romano has clarified that “I’m Aware” of the reports that claim that the Blues are looking to extend Palmer’s current contract (which expires in 2028) with a new deal that will double his rumoured £75,000-a-week wages too. The journalist insists that it’s too early to speculate about these things considering that the 21-year-old only signed his first Chelsea contract eight months ago after joining them from Manchester City.

Romano insists that the London heavyweights are keen to keep their star winger happy after seeing him enjoy an amazing debut season, which also saw him score a great goal and set up Carney Chukwuemeka’s strike in the 4-2 win over Leicester. It’s also added that there are no issues within Palmer or the club about his contract, with the Englishman quite pleased with his current situation at Stamford Bridge.

How Cole Palmer Has Proven To Be Transformative Signing For Chelsea

The 21-year-old is enjoying his best-ever personal season at Chelsea and has been a driving force for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season. He’s played mainly as a right-winger for the majority of the 2023/24 term, but also converted to an attacking midfielder and false nine at times. In 35 appearances for the Blues in his debut campaign, the Englishman has scored 14 goals and provided 12 assists in all competitions.

That involved taking them to the Carabao Cup final (where they lost to Liverpool) and now also in the FA Cup semi-final. In the Premier League, he has 11 goals and eight assists so far and is responsible for helping them win many games. Palmer, who was hailed for his “amazing” football IQ by teammate Chukwuemeka after the Leicester City game, is a major candidate to win the PFA YOung Player of the Season award as well as the potential Golden Boy Award winner in the next Ballon d’Or awards too.
