Injured Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar wants to play for Brazil in November

Paris Saint-Germain star forward Neymar could miss up to a month of action because of the groin injury he suffered in Wednesday's Champions League game against Istanbul Basaksehir.

However, ESPN's Julien Laurens is reporting the 28-year-old wants to feature for Brazil in next month's World Cup qualifiers. Brazil face Venezuela on Nov. 13 and Uruguay on Nov. 17 as Neymar, on 64 international goals, continues to chase the career record of 77 held by three-time World Cup winner and footballing icon Pele.

Understandably, PSG manager Thomas Tuchel cares little about Neymar's pursuit of history when away from club duties.

"We are sad because he has a small adductor injury," Tuchel told reporters on Friday when offering an update on Neymar's status.

"I don't think it is possible that he plays with Brazil. If he plays, that means he is not injured and that's a bad message. The news for me is that [he] will return after the break."

Neymar is currently scheduled to miss Saturday's Ligue 1 match versus Nantes, a Champions League showdown with RB Leipzig next Wednesday, and a domestic game against Stade Rennes the subsequent Saturday.

Tuchel hopes to have the Brazilian back in his team for the Nov. 20 league match against Monaco but likely fears Neymar could aggravate the injury over the FIFA dates and miss additional time.
