Via an Instagram update, Giorgos Giakoumakis has jumped the gun in saying his farewells to Celtic ahead  of an imminent announcement from the club he is signing for – Atlanta United in the MLS – and the club he is leaving which is of course managed by Ange Postecoglou who clearly is the butt of this particular joke as the Greek striker has one final dig before his departure.

It’s clear that the two Greek born football men will not be on each others Christmas card lists going forward, which is a shame really. However Giakoumakis was liked and respected as a player for Celtic by the supporters and while we all can trust Ange’s judgement, the big striker will leave with best wishes from the Celtic support.

Last week Ange Postecoglou cuttingly referred to update more likely to be available via Instagram rather than from himself and Giakoumakis appears to have made that a self fulfilling prophecy.  The outgoing Celtic striker took to the social media platform to state that this is a “difficult time” for him personally.

“Well, that difficult time has arrived!” Giakoumakis said. “It was an incredible journey! I loved and was loved by the incomparable, amazing Celtic fans! Thank you very much! You will forever be in my heart and mind! I will be forever grateful to you! Goodbye. Your GG!”

Then Celtic announced the transfer…
