The World Cup is in full swing, taking the eyes of the footballing world away from the club game, but that doesn’t meant there’s not plenty of action going on behind the scenes.

That’s probably particularly true at Chelsea, where the new owners and the new coach are likely scrambling to get things into line after a dreadful start to the season.

One major issue that needs to be sorted out is the future of Romelu Lukaku. The striker is on loan at Inter Milan for the season, but has barely played, and it’s hard to see the Italian side making that move permanent anytime soon.

Caughtoffside have reports from Italy which claim that Inter want to take him on loan for another year before arranging a permanent move. At this stage, they have all the bargaining power, and if they want that deal, Chelsea will likely oblige just to kick the can down the line another year while they sort out other problems.
