Inter will have an important decision to make regarding Valentin Carboni in the summer. The young attacker has fared well while on loan at Monza, scoring twice, logging four assists, and debuting with the Albiceleste.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, there’s a chance he’ll stay in Milan next summer, but it depends on a few factors. The Nerazzurri aren’t so certain about his fit in a 3-5-2. He’s more a winger or a no.10 than a striker. Moreover, there might not be enough room for him considering the addition of Mehdi Taremi to their incumbent stars.

Inter believe Carboni would greatly benefit from another year in a minnow. They wouldn’t mind inserting him in the negotiation with Genoa to lure Albert Gudmundsson. However, they don’t want to lose control. They could use the same formula they employed for Giovanni Fabbian, who joined Bologna permanently but with a buy-back clause.

On the other hand, the figures would have to be much higher. The prodigy has a €40M price tag in the brass’ mind. A loan spell would be easier to concoct. Conversely, an offer of that caliber would be tough to turn down for a side that’s not in pristine financial shape.

Our Take on Inter and Carboni

Youngsters either need to be trusted fully, accepting growing pains and shortcomings at first, or sent elsewhere, if not let go altogether. They have opted for the second route almost always in recent years.
