Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta expresses his great enthusiasm over what could be a historic Derby della Madonnina clash against AC Milan.

The two rivals will collide at San Siro on Monday night. This battle could settle the title race once and for all.

The Nerazzurri currently lead the Serie A standings while the Rossoneri are in second place with 14 points adrift.

If Simone Inzaghi’s men emerge victorious, they would mathematically seal the Scudetto title.

So if winning the league wasn’t enough of a grand occasion, Inter would have the chance to celebrate it in front of their crosstown rivals.

Moreover, this will be club’s 20th Scudetto title, so it would unlock the second golden star.

Therefore, Marotta could hardly hide his excitement on Friday night. The Nerazzurri CEO discussed the Derby air, noting how Monday could be a historic occasion for the club.

“We are in the center of Milan and I’d say there’s a derby atmosphere,” said the 66-year-old while attending the presentation of the partnership between Inter and Unopiù (via FcInterNews).

“You can feel the Derby in the air. It’s normal, because this fixture doesn’t just represent a football match but something truly extraordinary.

“We’re concentrating and preparing for what could be a historic event,” he concluded.

Many fans and pundits consider Marotta the main catalyst behind the club’s current success.

The former Sampdoria and Juventus general director has been in charge of the Nerazzurri’s sporting affairs since November 2018.

Since then, the club won two Coppa Italia trophies, three Italian Super Cups, and is now on the verge of securing a second Scudetto title.
