Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that it’s significant that his team are the only one who are currently competing all fronts among Italian sides.

Speaking to InterTV after his team reached the semifinals of the Coppa Italia by beating Atalanta 1-0, via FCInterNews, the coach noted that the Nerazzurri are still playing for every trophy on offer.

Inter will face either Juventus or Lazio in the semifinals of the Coppa Italia, a competition which they won last season.

In addition to this, the Nerazzurri will face off against Porto in the Champions League round of sixteen this month, in a competition where they’ll be hoping to do one better than they did last campaign.

In Serie A, it would perhaps be optimistic for Inter to consider themselves to be in the title race, given that league leaders Napoli now have a thirteen-point advantage over them.

However, for his part, Inzaghi feels that his team are still in it along with all the other competitions, something which neither Napoli nor AC Milan can say given their early exits from the Coppa.

“We wanted to reach the semifinals at all costs,” the coach said of the win over Atalanta, “and now we’re the only Italian team still competing on all fronts, which is a source of great pride for us.”

“We played a great match from the first minute until the 95th,” Inzaghi said, “with organization and aggression.”

“I’m happy with reaching the semifinal, and most of all I’m happy with the way I saw my team play on the pitch.”
