Simone Inzaghi wants guarantees about the strength and depth of Inter Milan’s squad for the upcoming season.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews.

Yesterday, Inzaghi gave clear confirmation of his intention to stay at Inter.

The 48-year-old still has plenty of work to do this season. The preparations for next Monday’s derby are well underway, as the Nerazzurri are yet to clear the final hurdle for the Serie A title.

But the coach also has one eye on the future.

Particularly with the absence of Coppa Italia or Champions League fixtures this month, the former Lazio boss is starting to look a little further down the horizon.

Simone Inzaghi Wants Guarantees About Inter Squad Building

This summer might not be as busy as last one for Inter in the transfer market. But the Nerazzurri are still going to have plenty of work to do.

The club will likely make signings in every area of the pitch – and there will also be outgoings.

And Inzaghi has given Inter clear demands regarding what he wants for next season.

The priority for the 48-year-old coach is squad depth.

Inter will have even more matches than ever to play next season.

There will be two extra matches in the revamped Champions League group stage format.

And at the end of the campaign, the Nerazzurri will play in the expanded Club World Cup.

Therefore, Inzaghi is very mindful of the need to have a squad that can withstand the tiredness and injuries that will inevitably accompany this gruelling fixture list.

Inter are already bringing in two notable players to add strength in depth. Piotr Zielinski and Mehdi Taremi will sign on free transfers from Napoli and Porto respectively.

But that’s not enough for Inzaghi.

The Inter coach wants a squad with a couple more options than this season. He wants to fight on all fronts, and knows how difficult that will be.
