Inter Milan have reportedly set an ultimatum for Denzel Dumfries who must now decide whether to accept or decline the new contract offer.

The 28-year-old joined the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2021 as a replacement for Achraf Hakimi.

While he had his highs and lows, the Dutchman has been an integral part of Simone Inzaghi’s plans, even though Matteo Darmian usurped him in the pecking order following his injury in December.

In recent months, the wingback’s contract has been one of the most pressing matters for the management.

With his deal expiring in June 2025, Dumfries’ future at Inter remains up in the air.

So according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, the club directors are seeking a definitive answer on this matter.

Inter are offering the Netherlands international a new contract valid until 2027 worth 4 million euros per season as net wages. This is the same proposal that has been on the table for quite some time

Inter Milan Hand Denzel Dumfries Ultimatum On Contract Offer

The player has until the end of May to hand his final answer. If he chooses to turn it down, then Inter will have no other option but to place him on the transfer list.

As the source tells it, the Serie A champions’ priority is to avoid losing the player’s services for free. So without a new contract, Dumfries will most probably be sold in the summer.

The Nerazzurri splashed 12.5 million to sign the player from PSV Eindhoven in 2021. The pink newspaper also explains how Inter have almost amortized the entire figure.

Therefore, if they decide to sell the Dutch wingback, they’ll be gunning to register capital gains of at least 20 million euros.

This season, Dumfries has made 33 appearances in all competitions, contributing with three goals and six assists.
