Legendary Inter Milan defender Giuseppe Bergomi describes the two profiles that can enhance the Nerazzurri squad.

Inter clinched the Serie A title on Monday following a historic win over AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina.

The Beneamata opened up a 17-point gap on top of the Serie A table, which was enough to mathematically secure the Scudetto with five matches to spare.

So with Simone Inzaghi’s men dominating the Italian landscape, Bergomi is struggling to pinpoint the most important victory in their title-winning run.

“I can’t identify a single match, honestly,” said the 60-year-old in an interview with Radio Sportiva via FcInterNews.

“But if I have to choose a match, I’ll say the Derby that Inter won by five goals to one. From there something changed and an incredible ride began. They hardly made any mistakes afterwards.”

The 1982 World Cup winner also heaped praise on Inter’s head coach Inzaghi.

“I know Simone well, I coach at the Inter Academy and so I often meet him when he brings his son. We always talk.

“I know how much work he put into building this team. The players have improved a lot under his tutelage.”

Finally, Bergomi urged the club to sign a young striker and a physical midfielder to enhance the squad, while hoping that the Nerazzurri maintain their best assets.

“I hope they can keep all the big players. Then, I would go for a young striker who can complete the attacking department.

“Moreover, We could use a player with a different physicality in midfield. Our current crop were all attacking midfielders in the past,” noted the Nerazzurri legend.
