Inter Milan owned striker Sebastiano Esposito feels that Sampdoria coach Andrea Pirlo is correct in thinking that he can still improve.
The 21-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, following a 1-1 Serie A draw against Bari. He also explained why he chose not to celebrate scoring a late equalizer against his former side.
This season, Esposito has been on loan with Sampdoria in Serie B.
This is only the latest team that the 21-year-old has been on loan at. He has played for the likes of SPAL, Venezia, Basel, Anderlecht, and Bari.
It’s been a ride with some ups and downs for Esposito.
The Inter-owned striker has undeniable talent. But at times he has struggled for consistency.
And moreover, there have been some reports of behavioural and off-the-pitch issues that have disrupted Esposito’s momentum.
But Sampdoria decided to sign the 21-year-old on loan during the summer transfer window.
The Blucerchiati have the difficult task of winning promotion back to Serie A for next season, after having dropped down to the second division last time around.
And Esposito represents the kind of player who the Ligurian team want at the heart of their project.
The 21-year-old is a young talent who is looking to prove himself. And he is doing so under the guidance of legendary former Juventus, AC Milan, and Inter midfielder Pirlo as coach.

Of Pirlo’s assertion that he can still improve, Esposito replied “I agree with him.”
“At twenty-one, no player in the world has reached or can be at 100% of his potential,” the Inter-pwned striker continued. “Because he doesn’t know what that is yet.”
“I’m learning to understand myself,” Esposito said.
“Because by training at 100% you begin to know really your qualities, so I’m calm.”
And Esposito also explained why he didn’t celebrate a late equalizer against his former team Bari.
“When you imagine a moment like that before the match, it’s natural to also think of all the good moments we shared together last season,” the 21-year-old said of the Bari fans.
“They deserve 110% of my respect, because they gave me so much.”
“Of course, I certainly gave them a lot,” Esposito said. “But they gave me so much more.”
