While Inter Milan look to keep their core beyond the current campaign, Denzel Dumfries could be the solitary major departure in the summer.

The Nerazzurri made drastic changes to their squad last summer, with 12 new players joining the first team.

Moreover, several veteran players left after seeing out their contracts, while Andre Onana and Marcelo Brozovic were sold.

But according to Il Giorno via FcInter1908, the Serie A runaway leaders will have a comprehensively quieter summer this time around.

As the source explains, Giuseppe Marotta and company are looking to maintain the core of the squad.

The management has already secured the services of Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski and Porto striker Mehdi Taremi. The Pole and the Iranian will join as free agents after seeing out their contracts with their respective clubs.

Therefore, the report doesn’t envision too many arrivals beyond the two free transfers above.

Denzel Dumfries The Only Key Player Who Could Leave Inter Milan This Summer

However, Inter will offload some of the deadwood. These are the players who aren’t playing prominent roles in Simone Inzaghi’s rotation.

The source specifically mentions Stefano Sensi, Davy Klaassen and Juan Cuadrado. All three players are running on expiring contracts.

Nevertheless, the only key player who could depart is Dumfries, as the source tells it.

The Dutchman, who turned 28 today, has a contract valid until June 2025. Till now, the Nerazzurri haven’t been able to make a breakthrough in the negotiations with his agents.

So if they can’t find an accord over a renewal, Inter will be looking to part ways with the wingback this summer. Otherwise, they will be running the risk of losing his services for free a year later.
