Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella is very happy after getting himself on the scoresheet for Italy against Ecuador.
The 27-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster RAI Sport, via FCInterNews, after the friendly win.

The former Cagliari man waited until the very end to do so. He sealed a 2-0 win for the Azzurri in stoppage time.
This is the ninth time that Barella has scored for his national team.
The Nerazzurri star enjoys a crucial place for Italy just as he does for his club.
Barella had been a key part of Italy’s starting eleven at the Euros in 2021. The Azzurri won that tournament with Roberto Mancini as head coach.
And Barella will certainly be one of the first names on the teamsheet at this summer’s tournament under Luciano Spalletti.

Barella’s goal yesterday evening was his ninth in an Italy shirt.
The Inter midfielder has made a total of 53 appearances for the Azzurri.
And there is little doubt that that total will go up significantly over the coming years.
At 27 years of age, there is still significant room for Barella to grow and improve.
And the player himself always feels happy when he can score for his country.
Barella said of his goal that “I had left some energy left for the final sprint.”
“It was right to, because we had to suffer a bit too much in the second half considering the quality that we have.”
“But that suffering helped me keep that final burst of energy,” Barella explained.
“And then I was able to give myself joy,” the Inter midfielder said of scoring.
Of the team as a whole, with Italy lining up in a 3-4-2-1 formation for the first time under Spalletti, Barella said that “Regardless of the formation, it’s a new beginning for us.”
“As the coach says, we’re improving,” he went on.
“There’s still more improvement that we have to make,” Barella said. “But we’re happy. We’re creating a great group.”
“Without that there would be no wins and no team spirit.”
