Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries is the “man of the moment” after equalling a record by Arjen Robben for the Netherlands.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Dumfries had already started the season in good form for Inter.

A goal and an assist from the Nerazzurri’s first three matches of the season constituted a good return for a player in the Dutchman’s position.

Dumfries has given the impression of an energized played with his early displays. He has held off the competition of summer signing Juan Cuadrado to control Inter’s right flank.

But that good form at club level was only a preview of what Dumfries has managed for his national side.

Denzel Dumfries Equals Record Set By Arjen Robben For Netherlands

During the international break, Dumfries has not managed to score for the Dutch national team.

But that’s just about the only thing that the 27-year-old Inter wingback hasn’t done.

The Netherlands have played two EURO 2024 qualifiers during the break. They’ve beaten Greece 3-0, and Ireland 2-1.

And Dumfries was right at the heart of everything good that the Oranje did in both of those matches.

The former PSV wingback assisted all three Dutch goals against Greece last week.

Then, he had a similarly positive influence against Ireland on Sunday.

First, Dumfries won the penalty from which the Oranje equalized. This was the third penalty that Dumfries has won whilst playing in a Netherlands shirt.

The only other player to have won that many penalties for the Netherlands had been legendary former Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Chelsea winger Arjen Robben.

And then, to round off the international break, Dumfries also assisted the Netherlands’ winner against Ireland.

Today, Dumfries returns to Inter training.

And the Dutchman does so as a player who’s full of confidence and in the form of life.

Now, Dumfries will be targeting making such a big impact in the biggest match of his season yet – the Milan derby.
