Nerazzurri Vice-President Javier Zanetti is confident that Inter Milan can give any team in the Champions League a hard time.

Zanetti spoke to reporters at the Champions League round of sixteen draw yesterday, via FCInterNews.

Inter have drawn Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of sixteen.

The Colchoneros are not necessarily the toughest team the Nerazzurri could have ended up with. They mean that Inter have avoided the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich.

But Atletico are certainly not to be underestimated.

But on the flip side, the Colchoneros will be well aware of what they are up against in Inter.

The Nerazzurri were certainly one of the teams to finish second in their group that all of the teams who topped their groups will have been hoping to avoid.

Inter went as far as the Champions League final last season. They saw off the likes of Barcelona, Porto, Benfica, and AC Milan along the way.

And in the final, the Nerazzurri went toe-to-toe with Man City.

They only lost that match by a narrow 1-0 scoreline, after having given a very good account of themselves through the match, even creating good chances to equalize late on in the match.

Zanetti: Inter Can Cause Problems For Anyone In Champions League

Zanetti gave his thoughts regarding Inter drawing Atletico in the next round. “Atletico have the character of Cholo Simeone to them,” he said.

“He’s certainly someone who left his mark at Inter,” he went on.

“He’s a friend for me, and it will be special to come up against him.”

Zanetti also had no problems with backing Inter to go all the way in Europe this season.

Regarding the favourites for the Champions League, the Nerazzurri Vice-President said “Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern, and Inter.”

“We are capable of causing problems for anyone,” Zanetti argued.
