Inter Milan are already weighing up taking advantage of their buyback clause on Bologna midfielder Giovanni Fabbian.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Inter sold 21-year-old midfielder Giovanni Fabbian to Bologna last summer.

The Italian youth-team international had looked on the verge of a move to Udinese as part of a deal for Lazar Samardzic to come the other way.

But with the Samardzic transfer having collapsed, so did Fabbian’s to the Friulani.

So there was a chance for other clubs to sign the 21-year-old – and Bologna took it.

Fabbian was the subject of plenty of transfer interest after an outstanding season on loan at Reggina last season.

But the Rossoblu were the ones to make the deal happen. They brought Fabbian to Emilia-Romagna, where he has integrated into their first-team squad.

Inter Considering Exercising Giovanni Fabbian Buyback Clause

Fabbian has started to really find his form at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

The young midfielder has not necessarily been a nailed-on starter for the Rossoblu. But he has had his share of starts, as well as decisive substitute appearances under Thiago Motta.

Fabbian has scored three goals so far for Bologna.

And all three have been vital to results as the Emilian club push for a shock Champions League place in the table.

Bologna coach Motta has used Fabbian as both a midfielder and a second striker, to great effect.

Salernitana had tried to sign Fabbian on loan in January.

Given that Filippo Inzaghi is currently coaching the Granata, and had worked successfully with Fabbian in Serie B last season, that interest is unsurprising.

But Bologna had no intention of letting go of Fabbian.

The 21-year-old remains a key part of their plans.

But for how long, is the question. Inter sold Fabbian to Bologna for a fee of €5 million for last summer. And they retain a buyback option worth €12 million.

And according to Tuttosport, the Nerazzurri are considering activating that clause at some stage.
