Inter are potentially 90 minutes away from lifting the Scudetto and securing a second star on their jersey. All they need to do is to beat arch-rivals Milan in the famous Derby della Madonnina on Monday.

Simone Inzaghi’s men have only lost one game this Serie A campaign and are deservedly on the cusp of dethroning Napoli. The math is simple. If they take three points against Milan tomorrow, Inter will be the champions for the 20th time.

Dropping points on the derby day would only postpone the inevitable as Inter boast an unassailable 14-point lead at the table’s summit. However, Inzaghi must be eager to celebrate his first-ever managerial Scudetto with a win against Nerazzurri’s fiercest rivals.

We talked to the guys about what we’re doing. We’ve had a magnificent journey, a beautiful ride,” the Inter boss said in the pre-game conference, as quoted by Gianluca Di Marzio. “Tomorrow could be a very important day, but we’re not living it as an obsession.

“We are working hard to make it happen, but what we had to do we have been doing since July 13th. We dominated a championship that had so many pitfalls, now the climb is about to end, and we want to see the view.”

Inter unexpectedly slumped to a 2-2 home draw against Cagliari last weekend. But as standout star Latuaro Martinez returns to the fold, they’re well-positioned to cap off a Scudetto-winning campaign with a season double against Milan following a 5-1 victory in the reverse fixture.
