Filippo Inzaghi has revealed the one AC Milan game that he would love to go back in time and replay if given the opportunity.

Inzaghi’s most notable spell as a player came with Milan as he won two Champions League titles (2003, 2007) and three Serie A titles (1998, 2004, 2011). He is the seventh-highest scorer in Italian football history too, with 313 goals scored in official matches.

He earned 57 caps for the Italy national team between 1997 and 2007 too – scoring 25 goals – and won the 2006 edition. A fan favourite because of the passion he displayed, a return to Milan as head coach followed for the 2014-15 season, but it did not go to plan.

Interviewed by Sky on his birthday yesterday, Inzaghi was asked which match he would like to play again in the long time he spent with the Rossoneri shirt.

“Too easy: the 2007 final. When you play in a Champions League final and score two goals,” he said (via SempreMilan.it).

“At the time I didn’t enjoy it so much, it wasn’t easy to achieve what we were doing, plus we were always focused on the next trophy.”
