Is there a possibility of Manchester City returning to raid RB Leipzig again this summer? The world champions secured Josko Gvardiol from the Bundesliga side last summer. A recent report indicates that City continues to monitor RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

Simon Jones has reported for the Daily Mail that Manchester City continues to monitor Dani Olmo. He also adds that the treble winners would face competition for the Spanish international’s signature. Real Madrid, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Chelsea are all also interested in RB Leipzig’s star midfielder Jones also reports. Furthermore, Jones reports that a £52 million release clause becomes active in Olmo’s contract this summer.

As a player, Dani Olmo could potentially play in multiple roles for Manchester City. He has the versatility to play on either wing or just behind a striker in a number 10 role. That versatility, coupled with his tremendous technical ability, appears an ideal match for Pep Guardiola’s side. Across 19 appearances this season, Olmo has added 7 goals and 4 assists, which shows the threat he possesses around goal. Goals from midfield and wide positions are at a premium, and the goal threat that Olmo provides could be a bonus for Manchester City.

The injury record for the Spanish midfielder is a concern. As per transfermarkt.com Olmo has missed 18 games so far this season. He also missed 20 games last season, meaning his durability may be an issue. Given the amount of football Manchester City plays each season, his injury history is a cause for concern.

Manchester City was linked with a move for Dani Olmo last summer. Martin Blackburn reported for the Sun on City’s interest in the RB Leipzig midfielder. It is no surprise to City linked again with the midfielder given their interest last summer.
