Italian football agent Davide Lippi explains why signing Mehdi Taremi in January could backfire for Inter Milan.

The Iranian international has been on the Nerazzurri’s radar since the summer.

However, a transfer to Appiano Gentile never materialized, so the club ended up signing Alexis Sanchez and Marko Arnautovic as attacking backups.

Nevertheless, the 31-year-old remains a target for the Italian giants, especially since he’s running on an expiring contract.

Taremi will likely leave Porto at the end of the season and sign for a new club as a free agent.

However, the Nerazzurri and others could make an attempt as early as January.

Nevertheless, Davide Lippi advises Inter to stick to the current fold and avoid adding a new player in the middle of the campaign, especially someone who expects playing time.

“It seems to me that Inter are making good progress and that they have four attackers up front,” says the agent in his interview with TuttoMercatoWeb via FcInter1908.

“The team is complete. They need to be careful about including anyone who might have expectations regarding playing time.

“Inter have the best squad in the Italian league. They’re among the teams who play the best football.”

The son of legendary Italy coach Marcello Lippi also feels that the club’s directors have truly earned their contract renewals.

“Inter have renewed the contracts of their managers and rightfully so. They deserved it.

“In June, they will keep an eye on new opportunities. They have proven that they know how to poach players on free transfers.”
