Jack Grealish was hoping to sign for Manchester United last summer, according to CaughtOffside.

CaughtOffside have been on the ball since the start of the summer in terms of providing the inside track on Jack Grealish’s future with Aston Villa.

Their belief is that a deal is already agreed in principle between Man City and Aston Villa for Grealish’s transfer, with the midfielder set to earn as much as £360K-a-week at the Etihad.

Grealish looks set to become Man City’s priciest acquisition in their history, but if things had gone differently, he could be playing his football with Man United instead.

CaughtOffside report that Man United executives Ed Woodward and Matt Judge both wanted Grealish at Old Trafford last summer, with the player himself keen on making the move.

However, with Ole Gunner Solskjaer instead having pushed for Jadon Sancho, any potential pursuit of Grealish was derailed, which has led to his eventual move to Man City.

Have Man United made the right decision?
