Former Real Madrid striker Javier Hernandez has opened up on his time playing with Cristiano Ronaldo in the Spanish capital.

Ronaldo departed Manchester United for Madrid in 2009 with Hernandez subsequently arriving at Old Trafford ten months later.

Despite establishing himself as a fan favourite in Manchester, Hernandez was rarely a starting pick at United, and in 2014, the Mexican international accepted a loan move to Madrid.

His year with Los Blancos coincided with Ronaldo’s best ever career goal return in a single season with 48 La Liga goals, and 61 overall.

Hernandez netted nine in all competitions, despite a mixed start, and Chicharito has praised the professionalism and output of his former teammate.

“I always divided it as the first six months being very complicated because I played practically nothing. Some unfortunate injuries arose and I was given an opportunity in the second part, which was extraordinary and unique”, as per an interview with Paramount+.

“Cristiano was phenomenal in the locker room and also in his way of being.

“I don’t think I have met or seen a player, who has come out to say that Cristiano is a difficult or complicated person.

“Cris is Cris. We know his personality and competitiveness, but as a teammate that is one of the things that you cannot take away.”

Hernandez is currently in his fourth season with MLS side LA Galaxy with his contract set to expire at the end of 2023.

The club are yet to confirm if the will offer him a renewal but Hernandez has insisted he is ready to play on in 2024 as part of his pledge to play in next summer’s Copa America.
