Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele joined Turkish outfit Galatasaray on loan at the start of the season.

The 26-year-old was expected to get his career back on track with regular football at the Turkish club but things have not gone according to plan for him so far.

Not only has he struggled to play regularly, but his attitude and fitness concerns seem to have disappointed the Galatasaray hierarchy.

Recently we covered reports that the Turkish outfit are losing patience with him because of his fitness reasons. The midfielder reportedly arrived at the Turkish club overweight and he has not been able to sort out his weight issues so far.

Now, Charlie Eccleshare from the Athletic has revealed that the midfielder is being labelled as a liability at his new club.

“It’s been a disappointing start to life at Galatasaray for Ndombele, with one contact in Turkey describing him to me as “a liability”. The fans have turned on him and there have been reports that he is overweight and Galatasaray would like to terminate his loan deal in January,” he wrote.

“An early termination is not possible — despite credible suggestions Galatasaray would go down that route if they could — so it will be down to Ndombele to try to turn things around.”

The 26-year-old was regarded as a world-class talent during his time at Lyon but he has not been able to replicate that form in recent seasons. There is still time for him to get his career back on track and fulfil his potential. It remains to be seen whether he can turn things around in Turkey over the next few months.

There is no doubt that he is a top-class talent who could be a key player for Galatasaray in the coming months. However, he will need to work on his fitness and mentality in order to live up to the expectations at his new club.

Spurs will be hoping that he can impress in the coming months so they can sell him permanently at the end of the season.
