Il Corriere dello Sport editor Ivan Zazzaroni feels Juventus celebrated reaching the Coppa Italia Final like a Champions League and insists the Old Lady must change coach but refuses to blame the Italian tactician.

Juventus qualified for the Coppa Italia on Tuesday night despite a 2-1 loss against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico. The Bianconeri had won the first leg in Turin 2-0, so they qualified with a 3-2 aggregate victory.

Lazio had taken a two-goal lead, and only a late Arek Milik goal allowed the Bianconero to reach the Final, where they’ll meet Fiorentina or Atalanta.

‘Juventus celebrated Coppa Italia Final like a Champions League’

“It was one of the worst performances of the season for Juventus,” Zazzaroni told Sportmediaset after the game, as quoted by Ilbianconero.

“They celebrated as if they had won the Champions League, which means they cared about it, but the performance wasn’t there. Lazio were always in control of the game, but then Juventus scored the goal that allowed them to qualify.”

Most fans on social media want Juventus to sack Allegri in the summer despite a contract expiring in 2025. Zazzaroni also feels the club and the coach should part company but refuses to blame the Italian tactician.

“These three years have been painful for Max and I am convinced something different must be made,” said the journalist.

‘Allegri must go’

“I am an Allegri fan. On social media, they say he pays me, but I don’t need it. He has an idea of football that I like, but the players are not good enough, and I think he must go and prove his worth elsewhere; he is still young.

“He has reached all the targets, but the environment is so bad that the club has to change and have a fresh start. Elkann said it will be ‘Year Zero’ and I don’t think it will include Max.”

Juventus finished the last two seasons empty-handed, and the Coppa Italia is the last chance they have to lift a piece of silverware this term. Allegri won 11 trophies in his first five years in Turin.
