Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri feels the outcome of the Serie A title race has proven him right since he has always acknowledged Inter Milan as the strongest team in the league.

The 56-year-old’s side managed to maintain pace with the Nerazzurri until January. However, a February collapse allowed Inter to comfortably reach the finish line with five matches to spare.

The Beneamata celebrated the Serie A title on Monday by beating their crosstown rivals AC Milan 2-1 in what turned out to be a historic edition of the Derby della Madonnina.

For his part, Allegri had always insisted that Juve’s objective is to secure a spot in the Champions League.

Even when the Old Lady came close to the top spot, the Livorno native hardly changed his stance, although he attempted to play a few mind games in the press, with light-hearted remarks like the one about cops and robbers.

Juventus Coach Max Allegri Reminds The World About His Comments On Inter Milan

Allegri is preparing to take on his former employers AC Milan on Saturday night. He feels that Stefano Pioli and his team had little hope as well in the title race, as Inter are the superior club in the Italian peninsula.

“Pioli is doing an excellent job at Milan,” said Allegri in his pre-match press conference via FcInterNews.

“I don’t know if Inter have been the strongest over the last three years [as Pioli suggested in his press conference].

“However, I have always said that the Nerazzurri are the strongest this season. And they called me crazy for saying it.”

Allegri and Pioli’s jobs are both under great scrutiny, with the two fanbases calling for a change in the summer.
