Lazar Samardzic once again didn’t transfer in the past window, even though he was on the precipice of moving to Napoli this time after failing to come to terms with Inter in the summer, and Juventus are in pole position for the future, Calciomercato informs.

The Old Lady had a meeting with the Friulani late in the window. They offered the same formula they used for Carlos Alcaraz. The counterparty demanded an obligation to buy, which the Turin side couldn’t guarantee at the time.

Juventus will be in a better financial situation in a few months and plan to use a good chunk of their budget to bolster the midfield, with Samardzic and Teun Koopmeiners as their main targets. They are keeping in touch with his father and agent.

Udinese director Federico Balzaretti discussed the starlet to TuttoSport.

“Every top club is interested in him, also German and English ones, and the Bianconeri potentially too. We have always had an excellent relationship with them. They are undoubtedly one of the teams monitoring him, but we don’t know whether they’ll pursue him in the future. He’ll surely be a protagonist in the next window as well.”

Our Take on Juventus and Samardzic

Considering whom they wound up signing and his low wages, they certainly would have onboarded him if they could. Another attempt will hinge on what happens with Alcaraz, but retaining him will be very complicated. He’s a more affordable and realistic option than Koopmeiners.
