Legendary former Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio feels that Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella is proving himself among the world’s best midfielders.

Marchisio reacted to Barella’s performance in Italy’s friendly win over Ecuador while speaking on Radio Serie A, via FCInterNews.

Barella is a player who has enjoyed steady growth over the past few seasons.

When Barella arrived at Inter in the summer of 2019, he certainly had a positive reputation based on his performances for Cagliari.

But seemingly with each season at the Nerazzurri, the 27-year-old has taken another step forward.

And that has also been the case for the Italian national team.

Barella has been a regular starter for the Azzurri for a few years now. The Inter midfielder played a big role in the national team winning the Euros in 2021.

But now more than ever, Barella is one of the first names on the teamsheet for Italy.

That will certainly be the case at the Euros this summer as Italy seek to defender their crown.

Claudio Marchisio: Nicolo Barella Continuing To Prove He’s One Of World’s Best Midfielders

Barella started for Italy in the Azzurri’s first friendly match of the current international break.

That came against Ecuador.

And the Inter midfielder put in an eye-catching performance. He proved to be the Azzurri’s creative spark in midfield.

And Barella capped off his display with a goal.

It was an excellent scooped finish from the 27-year-old, coming in stoppage time. Barella’s goal sealed the 2-0 victory for Italy.

That goal seemed to encapsulate everything about Barella at his best.

Former Juventus midfielder Marchisio said of Barella that “He’s still growing, despite already being at a very high level.”

“He keeps confirming himself as one of the best midfielders in the world,” Marchisio continued.

“His goal the other day against Ecuador is proof that he has the kind of composure that distinguishes the really top-class players,” he added. “Despite a second half that was far from brilliant.”

“He manages to find a way to do something extraordinary,” Marchisio said of Barella’s goal.
