Juventus have lined up yet another extension, as they are considering adding at least a couple of years to the contract of Weston McKennie. The parties have been in touch in recent weeks and will seek to come to an understanding sooner rather than later, Tuttomercatoweb informs.

The midfielder is currently tied to the Old Lady only until 2025. The expiry date will be pushed to 2027 or 2028 if the parties manage to strike a deal.

McKennie wasn’t expected to stay at Juventus after returning from a six-month loan spell at Leeds United last summer. However, he was re-integrated into the squad after Paul Pogba’s knee injury early in the summer. The ensuing problems of the French star and Nicolò Fagioli allowed him to be a full-time starter this campaign.

The 25-year-old has collected 19 appearances and recorded 2 assists. He was signed from Schalke 04 for about €25M back in the day. The Bianconeri fully planned to sell him to Leeds United for nearly €30M last year. Their relegation upset their apple cart, but the turn of events has been serendipitous.

Our Take on Juventus and McKennie

They have lucked their way into a sound midfield, as he and Adrien Rabiot have the perfect traits to play box-to-box in their system. Their brass has done things backward on the renewals, taking care of those who were already contracted long-term first. Still, no harm no foul as long as they get it done before the summer.
