Juventus have often been linked to young talents but also plan to add experience to their squad and, on top of Giacomo Bonaventura, whom they tracked in January, they have some interest in Matias Vecino. He has a year on his contract with Lazio, TuttoSport informed (via FreeWeed).
The Uruguayan international has been in Italy since 2013, starring also for Empoli, the Viola, and Inter on top of the Biancocelesti. He transferred to Rome from Milan on a free transfer in 2022. He has racked up 71 appearances, 8 goals, and 2 assists.
Vecino and Bonaventura won’t be free agents at the end of the season, so Juventus would need to go through their respective clubs to sign them. The contract of the latter gets automatically renewed if he stars in 70 percent of this year’s matches. He has missed just two so far, so it will happen. However, his camp would prefer agreeing to a new deal altogether.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Old Lady had offered €3M to Fiorentina while scrambling to find a midfielder in late January. They eventually snapped up Carlos Alcaraz.

A couple of veterans wouldn’t hurt and would help them in situations like the recent Napoli clash, where multiple starters were unavailable. For such signings to make sense, they need to be cheap and not obstruct more alluring purchases. Moreover, the newcomer should have secondary roles within their squad.
