AC Milan have struggled at the back this season and the management is already making plans for the summer. Some movement is expected on that front, a report claims, and the Rossoneri already have two key targets in mind.

As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (see photo below), Geoffrey Moncada and Antonio D’Ottavio are actively looking for players to strengthen the defence. The 48 goals conceded this season are too many, and a few current defenders could also leave.

The defenders who could leave

The first step, as the newspaper continues, is to determine which players will leave Milan. Simon Kjaer’s contract will expire in the summer and the Rossoneri have no intention of renewing it. The Dane has been a great servant, arriving for free, but his time has come to an end.

Kalulu is another candidate, failing to live up to very high expectations after the Scudetto season. He arrived for a nominal fee from Lyon and Milan are thus eyeing a nice capital gain. Everything will depend on the offers, but he’s not unsellable.

Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori, meanwhile, are the reference points in defence and Milan would like to keep them both. Having said that, as has been made clear in the last year or so, high offers will be evaluated for every player.

The defenders who could join

On the incoming front, Milan will allocate a decent chunk of their summer budget to the defence. The first target is Lilian Brassier, a 24-year-old who currently plays for Brest. In January, €10-12m was needed to convince the French side, but this should be lower in the summer.

Brassier’s contract will expire in 2025, helping with the price tag, and Milan are keen on making a serious attempt. The same goes for Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix, a 23-year-old whom the Rossoneri have followed for quite some time as well.

Finally, Tosin Adarabioyo is even more accessible, as the newspaper puts it. His contract with Fulham will expire in the summer and Milan could approach his entourage.
