Liverpool have done an impressive job completely transforming their midfield from last season after signing four different midfielders in the summer transfer window. Despite that, the Reds are now being linked to Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich to add more firepower to their midfield.

Are Liverpool Interested In Joshua Kimmich?
German outlet Bild’s reporter Christian Falk has claimed the German midfielder could leave the Bavarians next year as he currently lacks standing at the club. Falk mentions that “Jurgen Klopp Knows His Strengths” well and that the 28-year-old can suit Liverpool, making him a fascinating option for the club.
The journalist further claims that Manchester City are admirers of the Bayern Munich midfielder and that Pep Guardiola is a big fan of him after working with the German star at the Bundesliga side. The report mentions Barcelona are interested in the possibility – of signing him next year.
When describing the situation around Kimmich at Bayern right now, Falk wrote for CaughtOffside: “The head coach (Julian Nagelsmann) also has a few construction sites that he urgently needs to close. He took Joshua Kimmich’s place in the first XI. Of course, the Bayern professional doesn’t like that and could cause trouble. However, Kimmich also currently lacks standing in the club. It cannot be ruled out that FC Bayern and Kimmich part ways. His contract only runs until 2025. Like Nagelsmann, Thomas Tuchel has also questioned the player.”
Can Kimmich Fit In At Liverpool?
The most notable positive about a player like Kimmich is his versatility and ability to adapt to changes. He is a natural defensive midfielder but can play further forward and even as a right-back if necessary. He is energetic and defensively agile and thrives in winning the ball in key areas and creating chances with his set-piece delivery.
The 28-year-old is a decorated midfielder, having won every possible title with Bayern, including the Champions League. He has made 365 appearances for the Bavarians, scoring 40 goals and producing 100 assists in those and was hailed as a “super” player by Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso earlier this season. Kimmich could be a perfect fit in that no.6 role at Anfield, allowing summer signing Alexis Mac Allister to play higher up the midfield and perhaps more freedom for the high-flying summer acquisition Dominik Szoboszlai.
