Kobbie Mainoo’s stunning finish against Wolves is one of eight strikes in conention for the Premier League’s Goal of the Month award.

The 18-year-old midfielder went on an adventurous run with the ball towards the penalty area before hitting the bottom corner with a curled finish.

It was Mainoo’s first goal in the Premier League for United and it was one to remember. Now, the goal has been nominated for one of the monthly Premier League awards.

Mainoo faces competition from either other goals. The full list of nominees includes goals from Richarlison, Joao Pedro, Declan Rice, Jefferson Lerma, Darwin Nunez,  Jordan Ayew and Emerson Palmieri.

However, United’s starlet showed a degree of composure with his 97th minute winner.

The academy graduate has been a silver lining in what has been a difficult season for the Reds. As a result, fans are already convinced they’ve got the real deal with Mainoo, but the youngster must be given time as well as patience to develop his game.

Speaking to club media about the goal recently, Mainoo said (via ManUtd.com): “Obviously, the Wolves goal, that was crazy. I’ve watched it a few hundred times so it’s sunk in!

“To be honest, I hadn’t thought about it [the celebration] or anything. It just felt right when I scored it, you know. It was a nice clutch moment.”
