Matteo Moretto reports that Teun Koopmeiners’ priority is to remain in Serie A, but Atalanta will sell the Dutch star to the best bidder, so Juventus must expect competition from Premier League clubs.

Football Italia transfer expert Matteo Moretto reports that Atalanta midfielder star Koopmeiners wants to remain in Serie A beyond the summer.

In his latest transfer column for Caught Offside’s Daily Briefing, Moretto said that the 26-year-old will prioritise staying in Italy in 2024-25 even if several clubs, even outside the Peninsula, have shown interest in him.

Atalanta’s stance and Koopmeiners’ priority amid Juventus and Liverpool rumours

Moretto confirms that Serie A giants Juventus look ‘the most interested’ in Koopmeiners and have been working on the deal for longer than their rivals.

Several sources in Italy and England have claimed Liverpool are also interested in ‘Kop’, and Moretto confirms that some Premier League clubs have already enquired about the Netherlands international.

The Italian transfer expert clarifies that Atalanta will only open formal talks with any interested club at the end of the season given that they are currently fighting for three targets on the pitch: qualify for the Champions League and win the Europa League and Coppa Italia.

Given Atalanta’s financial health, it is unlikely unlikely that La Dea will drop their asking price for Koopmeiners, so suitors must be ready to match their demands in the summer.
