Kylian Mbappe predicted France-Morocco World Cup match back in January

It seems like most soccer fans are surprised that the World Cup semi-finals round will feature a match between reigning champions France and underdogs Morocco. But it appears one international superstar saw this matchup coming almost a year ago.

In a video posted to YouTube in January 2022, Kylian Mbappe predicted he will face Paris Saint-Germain teammate and Moroccan right-back, Achraf Hakimi, in the World Cup in Qatar.

The video features the duo at Education City Stadium in Qatar, at which point Mbappe says that "after we play Morocco, I'm going to have to destroy my friend."

As the two laugh, Mbappe adds: "It will break my heart. But you know the football. It is what it is."

Mbappe has tallied five goals and two assists through five matches played at the World Cup 2022. He has scored 12 goals with two assists through 14 matches for PSG this season.

Hakimi, who has three goals and one assist for PSG this season, is looking for his first goal at the World Cup.
