There have been massive changes in Lamine Yamal’s situation at Barcelona from last summer to now. Back then, he was only on the fringes of the first team, having made his debut last April against Real Betis – becoming the club’s youngest ever player in the process. He has since broken into the Xavi Hernandez’s squad, where he is now a key player.

Lamine Yamal also revealed that his physical condition has changed significantly over the last 10-12 months. He admitted to MD that he has been placed on a plan by Barcelona, which has included adding more fish into his diet, something that Lionel Messi also did when he broke through in Catalonia.

“I’ve gained about four kilos in weight and two centimetres in height in 2024. I’m at 1.81m now.

“Before, I used to go with my friends and eat whatever I wanted. Now, I follow the club’s advice. And I drink lots of water. I try to eat more fish because before it is more meat, and from here, I haven’t changed (my diet).”

It’s clear that Lamine Yamal’s dietary changes that significantly helped him to be at a very good level, which he has shown over the last few months. Barcelona will be delighted with his progress, and they will hope it continues for many years to come.
