Oli McBurnie scored the latest goal ever recorded in the Premier League as Sheffield United drew 2-2 with West Ham on Sunday.

McBurnie hit the net from a penalty kick 12 minutes and seven seconds into second-half added time at Bramall Lane.

The penalty had been awarded for a foul by Hammers goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, who then left the field with an injury before the spot-kick was taken.

Substitute keeper Lukasz Fabianski dived the right way but did not get close to saving McBurnie's drilled low shot.

The record for the latest goal in Premier League history had previously been held by Dirk Kuyt, who scored for Liverpool against Arsenal with a 102nd-minute penalty in April 2011.

McBurnie's goal was 19 seconds later than Kuyt's.

It looked momentarily as though West Ham might get a chance to break the record again on Sunday when Jarrod Bowen appealed for a late, late penalty for an alleged foul by Anel Ahmedhodzic.

But no foul was awarded, despite a brief VAR review.

James Ward-Prowse earlier scored from the spot to put the Hammers 2-1 ahead in the 79th minute, arguably against the run of play.

West Ham had led in the first half too, thanks to Maxwel Cornet volleying in his first goal for the club.

Ben Brereton Diaz equalized for the Blades in the 44th minute by netting on his Premier League debut.

Both teams ended Sunday's game with 10 men after Rhian Brewster and Vladimir Coufal were sent off in added time, shortly before McBurnie's record-breaking leveler.
