Girona are continuing to insist on Valentin Castellanos but Lazio are refusing to open up to a possible deal.

The Spanish side had the Argentinian striker on loan last season, where he shined with 14 goals and one assist across 37 matches. His impressive work in La Liga earnt him a €20 million move to the Biancocelesti following his return to New York City.

Girona found another source of goals this season, Artem Dovbyk. The Ukrainian forward is widely expected to leave in a high-profile transfer in the coming months, prompting the Spanish side to start quickly looking for a replacement.

Alfredo Pedulla details how Girona have continued to try and push Lazio for a deal for Castellanos, but Claudio Lotito is not willing to let the striker leave this summer for two reasons.

The first is that their latest offers have been far lower than his perceived market value in the Italian capital, and the second is that the club believe he can continue to grow and shine in the capital following his debut season.
