Danilo Cataldi will undergo a new round of medical checks in the coming days but Lazio fear his season may have ended early.

The 28-year-old Italian midfielder was forced off the pitch in the 50th minute of the Biancocelesti’s 3-1 loss to Inter last month, an injury that’s kept him out of the last three consecutive league outings.

The injury to Cataldi has highlighted his importance to Maurizio Sarri’s squad, playing a crucial anchoring role in the three-man midfield, something Marcos Antonio has been unable to fill sufficiently.

As reported by Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Cataldi is still dealing with some calf pain following the injury and will undergo a round of medical tests tomorrow to further examine the issue.

The hope is that the Italian midfielder will be able to feature against Cremonese on 28th May, but there’s serious concerns that he may be forced to sit out until the end of the season.
