Whilst the final details still need to be ironed out, Lazio have agreed a deal with Hellas Verona for Nicolo Casale.

The Biancocelesti have been keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old Italian centre back for months now, keen to make a move for him in January before agreeing to return in the summer. The player is comfortable with the ball at his feet and taking part in the build-up play, making him perfect for Maurizio Sarri’s system in Rome.

As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Lazio have agreed to pay Hellas Verona around €8 million plus €2 million in add-ons for Casale. The final details are now being discussed, with one element being a possible deferred payment, and things will be completed very soon.

Casale will be hoping to learn fast from Sarri at the pre-season training camp in Auronzo di Cadore ahead of the upcoming season, with defenders playing a key role in the attacking 4-3-3 system.

Last season under Igor Tudor, the 24-year-old Casale provided two assists in 36 Serie A appearances, standing out with his creativity in the final third and ability to decisively contribute to the attack, providing around 1.11 shot-creating actions per 90 minutes on average.
